The best we're not afraid to break somewhere deep here primetime news you are swords for the best and local regional and national sports. And clap. Mediocrity deserves applause Isaac rob I'm miserable I had to get up at 2 o'clock this morning Jason's a cannon arm do you play in that do this problem. Do prime time on 1080. Yeah. All right we are here welcome back. Been here for two whole hours or anything. Folks I don't know what it's like out there. We'll be here for two more hours according to KG WB freezing rain is here it will not let up until about. 11 o'clock. To zero and eleven inches file but mumbling so you'll see what happens holes and he's just gonna go up. This that I would and I logged on to KGW it said freezing rain covers for the intentional Steve freezing throughout. Midnight and they said right around eleven to midnight he should go warmup and some of that should melt off. Okay well it when you're out there breeze outside. On our right. The out there stay safe folks drive slow I salute evasive when he had time and when he rim gives a lot of room out there to hell out of my way at 7 o'clock we don't need no bumper cars out there are going to be going nice and slow on the you know on the way. But we're here if you missed it earlier. We do have a final number from our radio Thon. And it is over 183000. Dollars. So that's we raised yesterday and the day before or must we need our Sharia sponsor once again we like to thank you very much for disbanding. Dawson yeah. Really great some are partners namely you know Carlos junior less Schwab. Who just were absolutely huge forest symphony in us up that he said Obama for 180000 dollars. Phenomenal thank you guys so so much and for ever when the donated from five dollars to have a couple thousand for some of the bigger donors. Every dollar that was appreciated it goes to a wonderful cause and we are both humbled that we were able to you know be a part of that. Best audience and radio absolutely. All right we've got Dave Martinez coming up at 515 he's gonna come on and tell you why he doesn't like Willie Taggart. Least I don't think you actually tiger yet I don't think that he is a huge fan of the higher well we keep hearing it Willie Taggart is a great recruiter. Is he. Also people who said that they his recruiting classes are even in the top twenty he was a South Florida. Not sure what people expected out of South Florida job OK so then how do you measure his your drinks yes they. No that's a tough one I mean. He's just eat when you hear people around the country that always seems to be something that gets thrown out is that he is eight people like him yet people like him people say he's a very good recruiter but now all secretly built two programs in western executives South Florida that were you know bad jobs in that he built into winners took him a couple of years and one would make the argument that daddy is Rick dirty that you're getting better players in your coach among. So Woolsey Linda's different level yeah it is we'll see how Dave thinks of of Taggart that'll be at 515. We may mail and then join Millen we humility and reclaim body with. I do think there might bloody is worth paean replay we have Mike a lot of our bloody on right what 330. And I thought he was really good in Gaby some interest scene inside well what it took to build org program. May be what went wrong and and maybe some of the challenges that face Willie Taggart app we'll play it by ear we assessment Taggart audio which will be teak is you he was introduced today yet this press conference in your prime wanna hear from them again because I have a feeling he's gonna be very busy here. Over the next couple weeks. On the right now let's get to the hot by the five. Broad topics pond opinions in this corner right. And a father quite. A ride it's time for it on fire good father. Green ball. Yvonne primetime retires against you we have to get this program. We should refresh my laurel were brewing company and crafted beer local food and just a brutal. Haven't always Portland's original family friendly group club laurel woods public thousand. The process. Number flying. The browns have announced that RG three will be their starting quarterback against the dangles. I guess this. Good news for Cleveland there he was here's an early quarterback at the start of the year there's a lead into the URG three declined but it's he's sitting though is this. I'm trying to get how many starting quarterbacks that uses this. Well he started by the year pretty big east five quarterbacks or maybe it's just come full circle now well if you cannot wild about starting but if you count trump prior who through pat I think it's I think that the the distinction is. How many guys have thrown a pass for the browns here where it's five and I believe it's fine young lady and we come back full circle now because RG three did start the season as the starting quarterbacks though. Diego RG three. Leave Cleveland to a victory or Dodi really doesn't matter because. Year terrible Kennedy's sixth with a six lost six guys have thrown a pastoral crashed on nine passes Kevin Hogan 26. Charlie Whitehurst when he for Robert Griffin 26 Josh McCown a 165. And include Kessler I won't. Olivia quarterback typically middle ground floor. Hugh Johnson doing it really many bags do jokes and now that hasn't. You know counties with didn't happen Lane Kiffin is he headed to Houston well the USA today first reported that he was now USA today is saying that Houston is closing in on Lane Kiffin is and I think coach get a drop to Lee Corso not so fast I was the end down between. Lane Kiffin and in the two coordinators that are already in Houston office the defense of coordinator Todd Orlando a Major Applewhite Major Applewhite former Texas quarterback. So it felt like maybe one of the hang ups here if you read between the lines is. Houston wants a giant buy out supposedly for their next coach as they would they don't want is Lane Kiffin to go to Houston. But I think this is how went down they want Lane Kiffin would serve bravely giving goes there hasn't quarter two good years Lane Kiffin moves on. They don't wanna be a stepping stone job they're trying to get Lane Kiffin do agree to a giant fire brand I think he's probably balking at that and then all of a sudden well. We've got these thirteen kids over a year when all along we if we think it's gonna be Lane Kiffin thinking. Come up with a contract. Mindy sheriff Steve did while they go after Lincoln I don't get it and I and I. Just did not watch tennis C. Today not watching in Oakland and not watch you as USC. At least he's fresh off a national championship Alabama in the lane has says that it coordinator said that he's grown companies learn from the process. But Nicky C. Number three no Marcus is out tonight against the grizzlies for the blazers he's been at their best player no question in the second best player this year. Ankle sprain. We'll see that on Saturday. The good news is is that Memphis is without Conley Parsons right and Vince Carter. This seemed like the last two years that meant this is just. You know they've just been decimated by injury there's snake bit you have that they are fifteen innate need one for around so I think Haile I don't know. The bucks. I love the bucks fans chanting sound cloud wrapper at Damian Miller and I and I think about that they gave this is a little they did give him the distance Milwaukee Bucks or should I say really lucky day. Want to implement pretty good he is awesome to watch Orleans LeBron James to. Number two so I think Colin poor man come the torment them around. Which I don't think business trillion what are you a poor man's. Poor man's campaign it's possible yeah that's probably what it is a poor man's game Cleveland. Tell that to save the little dump near little shorter putt that good in anything. Were written to raiders chiefs tonight hey Temps in the teens not in Kansas City it's gonna be called. I heard Jason's I am still a Jesus like ignited you know he said this to be the coldest game. The the raiders played in since 2007. Billy. Goat though these are cold and we get down into the you know and he did take them into the teens that's pretty frosty night. I don't anyway I think it's until you start getting into the negatives. Where you really get an adverse affect like when Minnesota played. Seattle last year like those were two games can be crippling this will be cold but I don't know if this. If this means oh a winner or a loss for open because they're playing it frigid temperatures. By the chiefs far without a top ten you know on offense or defense the man is a pretty good as the other not greeted anything but they're good it ever again they beat the raiders are and he wants 26 to tenth circuit big game tonight. Just feel like when you have doubts that he's your quarterback he just puts her go out and you're out. Easier pay go you know what that dude I'm Tammy hill yeah this is easy run studies like showed tournament play college Jack of all trade I. I wanna see he played in the south some where I put this just the other week he's good at the same thing Mike Wooten oppose this guy and we missed him. He's a weapon. Raiders chiefs tonight. There's an infant by number one Willie Taggart introduced as Oregon's head football coach. We have built a successful program at both places bust down those three times. Make no excuses. Blame no one. Do something and we will continue to live believe that we return to football program. The law says that deserve number three it was a bit of a wild card debt I don't know where he's going with number three but he just jot down. Very simple do something yeah this did did you just do it again do it again Nike thing I don't talk about it. Do it when the day do some seeing. Just do a it rowed the boat all the same you know ranked. By the way I looked it up he he bounced around a little bit but he was it to a community college and Oklahoma State and then finished up that there west Alabama. So he was a he was a bounce around kind of guy fell through the cracks but he is he's been dynamite for the chiefs. Well I think that's it folks that's your hot private side it is brought to you by laurel would bring company. Enjoy laurel woods award winning golden nail in the can and six packs were better beer is sold I am looking ads. Twitter and gay bar to assaying were playing guess the coach coming up next we are said to have your pens and pads ready. Phil this is not going to be complementary. Lower with a attackers may be that many will be NO Dave Barr to the matrix what does he think of Willie Taggart. And that's coming up next in DC either the tube back to back tax one please don't replay body the next one please replay body. Bloody is a good interviewer what do we do if you didn't hear the bloody interview I think you want to. This was killed. Will probably replace 515 on the fan. And okay. Willie Taggart the new coach at Oregon what is they think it's fine you're gonna play a fun game with few days. DL mile per talking about it and yeah I've been on shows all over the that the country this week and they've been asking you know about tiger a lot of media there are higher and how come forward. In that it's kind of the same old thing over and over so rather than my opinion. I thought maybe I would just give everybody the numbers. But I'm looking at. It just that I don't give a name. I'll give you two coaches. Maybe the breakdown of what I'm looking at and then YouTube grows to figure out who can't. And sports groups like it this is Gibbs did the new fun game try otherwise. And behind door number guys that we have they coach. His first job in the FBS lasted four more years. In the first year his coat effect is negative to his second you were negative won his third year he had zero coach effect. Recruiting his recruiting classes over the three years were about one half percent better than the previous four years before he arrived. During his time out this program he won your division titles and zero conference title and he moved up and Hewitt they had next FBS program for. Years. Now he's the average recruiting class was 9%. Below. That seems average over the previous ten years. His cover to back level in the matrix you're one minus four games lead you to minus fourteen year three minus one. In your floor plus true. So. Yeah. Now during those four years no division titles no conference title. In those seven years you have five negative coach effect here it's 101. Positive recruiting. They're pretty neck about average. Code behind door number two. In his first FBS stopped. His recruiting average world a 101. The previous four years at that program. Average of about a hundred to not much improvement there but it's it's affecting your one was plus two. You're too. Plus one. You are three plus two year or he would plus war won his division and this conference title. Well Lou fourth straight years of positive come to effect any moved up. In his first year coach effect was 02 year coach back to plus one but the big thing is his recruiting was 31%. Better. In history classes vs the previous four years at that school he won a division title. And then moved on to another program. Six years of being FB a head coach one division title. One conference title. Improved recruiting is one of the key stops. Which of the two coaches on pocket. This is fun OK I think number one his tag group. That's tonight and number two. Is rule that. In the right near 50% correct sir number one is Taggart. There's no question or you know reveal that there are out. One is haggard who's I think now he's in the woods I don't want this I never do OK so one is haggard though. One is haggard who would be the absolute best kinda compare tiger to right now. I think you who you love the Baylor guy that Eason and our own. Well cold and Omar are gone or Gary Anderson Gary and Gary Anderson. So Gary Anderson and six years. On top five positive coat effect one had zero no negative years his recruiting at Wisconsin was off. The charts he won a conference title. Well at Utah State he won a division title at Wisconsin. You know they end so that it to the beavers have. Jagr like I said. Five of the seven years negative coach consecutive win a conference or division title the recruiting at South Florida average class was 59 at four years prior to him was 54 and back. In the last thirteen years southern Florida. Has had only leave clapper said the port is an awesome place to recruit they've only had three classes outside the top 62 of them came in the last two years. Ha. It's it's agencies I think. Maybe the frustration when when he first got hired and I heard this from a couple duck fans were was. The sense that org or say where their program was it it's funny you brought a Gary Anderson but I guess I heard this. Symbol look or is it wasn't they landed Gary Anderson look at where we're at and we landed Willie haggard so I do think that there are some Dutch fans that felt like. They really underperformed. Going out and hired a coach and others. Seemed very happy because there's a sense of this guys up and coming in the Harbaugh coaching tree and so they I really do you feel like you're divided amongst duck fans. Globally are you know I mean why why do you go out hired Gary Anderson he's only making two point one million I know that would have been sexy. But the dude has won everywhere he's been never had a negative coach effect here. And so you want tiger to come in and when you were packed full title he ever won a division title. Either as a of his previous two stops in all the studies gonna go from not winning any pain at either want to. To order giving you want him to win division and packed hope I think it's a huge stretch. Again and the other two of the things I've been here. Pretty kinda great recruiter the numbers do not substantiate that at all. You know I mean maybe he'd average and Oregon that's really good if you could go back to getting average clapped in the teens. And the low twenties like you have in the last 56 years. Not good enough for third in the end in the top twelve overall and that's really solid and that we knew a ton of football game you can have a good coach. But if you Bennie L a is a few if you're let's break this down if if your measure marine. Recruiting numbers. How do you compare a guy who's having to recruit to western Kentucky and South Florida verses like Gary Anderson who had. You you know like for dinner consort. Doctor yeah you have to look at it relative to the program. Well it was nice write the UC FA. While he's a great read on Nick Saban the great recruiter because you know he would he'd get four years that Utah State averaging one a one now that Alabama. Averaging number one. You have to look at it relative to where America's most programs. Recruit in in there what do cold rainy town recruiting you have highs and lows but when you look at their four year average. It's usually really really steady. You know I in the pac twelve there's two programs Stanford and Oregon in the last decade they have broken out of that range bound. You know I'm at Stanford forever you can't remember and scampered in to recruit the top fifty yeah. Now and then I'm a few years ago they had a number five right before Harbaugh took off amused nuts and even Oregon you're talking about it in you war. High twenties low thirty height dirty kind of program. And it got transformed. In 28. You know they pull the top ten class they had some in the teens but now they've regressed a little bit over the last year the whole hot. But enough worked making different not a not in this last season and in the last season was his way way way beyond the talent. But I think that brings us back to another point that I've been seeing a lot too with haggard people talk about what he's great at building a program. Well maybe great building up for one good year but. Oregon doesn't need to be. Built it's not like it's piece of bare dirt sitting here that need to be dealt. I mean it is 83500. Square foot single level you know sprawling ranch up five acres with cross spending go to an up. You know three car garage to bank owned it and the previous people took all the cabinets in the appliances but. Really what it eases system you don't paint and carpet yet into refurbishing in this thing is ready to go. So I don't know how do the whole building a program really applies. When the most fans would agree when you look at the numbers it's built he just needs to be tweaked. Yen to your point where the Willie Taggart is never really stuck around it's like we don't know it's he may end up being greedy may not that in that. Yeah western Kentucky you know to intend then to seven if I seasons he leaves South Florida two wins four wins eight to ten and you're gone. We don't really know if he can sustain it we just know these built in a short time and in his taken bad programs to Goodyear's. Play exactly and and I'm already looking forward that need to be turned around quickly I think the status by people because you look at next year 2017. Regardless of the coaches. It whoever came again if they have what they top 25 class city they are able to assume you know scratch and claw their way like midnight and Mike used to deal. They get a top 25 then you're looking at was your coach effect next year is Dayton for. Okay now his average person his career at about minus one and a half games so right there I'd be expecting sickened six maybe seven and five. But it's 2018. That everybody really need to be paying attention to because it is a killer schedule. It is this a this is the kind of schedule that if your competing for a playoff spot this is. The schedule you want because all of the worst recruiters they played they're all on the road all. Everything's on the road the four toughest teams they play from a talent perspective they're gonna state. Tampered Washington UCLA are all at home is 812 and those schedules. If they recruit right and they can get things turned around. Alternately you know I guess in the next few good we're gonna find out if he can do that. Very interesting stuff Dave. There Arenas is that and you pissing him pissing the death ends up Redmond to boot are. God why didn't play any you don't yes you are in SEC aren't there hasn't seen you on the payless and I'll like it too I I'd. Who lives Hari Jacob les go this week. Go smoke some weed David. You and your stupid numbers and predictions. Delegates are a like this what is my favorite that's seriously at deter this this is my favorite though this guy exclamation point I mean dot dot dot what ever exclamation point next. While English yeah big time big time comeback Saatchi here. It hurt whenever on leading the sun says so only reserved I got a dim the birds you don't you rain on my parade. Here's a good job Pitt sit on your pot a bit in the hunt right now. Gary Anderson was about to be turf to Wisconsin is Taggart is so bad in US episode good. Why was this their best year per gram history. I just say it was so bad you seem to that conclusion by arguing it would detect. When else in here. Hanging our. Got to beat them there's got to be at least one. So until now I had what your time that we have picked listeners. And let you get sick sort of has so that's cool there's no one ticker and over the same guy. Far too is high will we are in snow McGinn right now Dave. Home yeah we've got what 29 and it's icy and snowy out here in the grove it's it's it's not pretty either. Well your fireplace looks cozy man. Bertuzzi fighter so delightful all right honestly how long do you think before we'll know whether or not Willie Taggart is the guy. Well in uptight I think give everybody four years. You know and when you hire somebody got to give them for given to that work here even talked about what culprits this was his forty year this was supposed to be. His all of his class is everything. And it would based Pulte. In hell and so they had to go on a new directions so. No matter what the numbers say I still say give that guy his four years you've got to let it play out I'm just say end. I'm not maybe is excited about it and a lot of the pens might be. Yeah understood and well at least you have the numbers to back it up you know. I think stable talk to again now soon. TV guys nice job in the last couple days with Special Olympics. Our version of thank you very much our idea Bartz UCF bi matrix dot com calls upon matrix dot com certainly in that perspective you can see you way maybe this is a risky hire in May be why you organs and maybe once a little more established that this is. This is the riskier betting on that you have a young energetic coach that's a rising star as opposed to someone with a little more established. Two we re played though Lonnie. The green light body our daughter Izzy is either this is a very very good interview nationally on yeah we place the bits of it. While about snippets because that would require Mike to actually do snippet things out which is a I haven't done that he had not done that then maybe we replay sites and over achiever maybe some of the might bloody interview plus. There's nine people on the road right now listening to Sammy do you really think you're listening seven re I have said sick other Dave undercut us at six I'm gonna say over under seven and a half. Unknown ability over I always. There's really no way to know. I guess the Boston because he eats and digs in the ratings. They don't look at all that stuff but I was judging by the techs line yep and quite frankly with the it is a little bit it's a little of the day. Well good thing I risked not driving me today this was awesome and I'm gonna die isn't all about you bid is all about knowing this is about Jason is about to show about the seven listeners and being here and doing a good job and realistic is Mike Bellotti yep we're gonna replay interview next. Here's Mike. It is Willie Taggart is there head coach today and here's a man who knows a thing or two about nicotine the organ docs because he's good at it when he was here. Now ESPN Mike Bellotti long time no talk Ari coach. Are great at what you get well identity yet we're still here with all these years later. He yeah local yeah yeah write intelligently with OK so what do you know about Willie Taggart. You know I don't know that much although I got a call from Dick told me today who I respect a lot and he told me that he is worked out well indeed. Great guy does a tremendous job with players. The only he'd worked for Jim Harbaugh ideas Tony Dungy seal the cruel that's probably enough for me I know he's done more work less at western Kentucky. And at South Florida he's been willing to change his style of offense to sit the mold of the players he's got. And he's got a great reputation as a recruiter so it all sounds good to me I'm looking forward to get a chance to meet and sit down talk. Talk football and talk direction with the. So he yet he munition his recruiting skills is a good recruiter just to get recruiter and that translates no matter where they go Horry is Eugene. Different is it were is it direct recruiting T Jeanne as opposed to you know being in Florida. Well yes they eat your recruiting you're good the crew ready go a little tougher Ichi in his short because they're just not a local captive population of pac twelve division one football players within that three or 400 mile radius and you gotta go there is some of the Seattle W some in the Bay Area there's a lot more in LA. But they're not in orient initially not Eugene don't have a chance to come and seat. Campus in practice every day and make. Visits to the campus just driving oh so you've got to be a little bit better recruiter when it gets to be long district urging it be a better value later to know where to spend your time. Is that the biggest challenge that comes along with taken a job and organist is just that simply recruiting to a place like Eugene. Yeah I I think so I mean that there's not a huge minority population. Let's be honest good. You're trying to recruit minority people and but the facility obviously you were overwhelming their tremendous there's good news there are anywhere at what you gotta get them there and then you got to figure out how parents and Stanley are gonna get their feet games until a you know cedar. Suns play elbowed now almost every and on TV so the world much smaller place but. I used to be great recruiter yet to create trust with the people that you're gonna take over and had to leave their lives to. You look at organ and it starts with with rich Brooks and that it transitions into you and you guys build something there. You build it into a top 25 program year in year out there's not many down years in fact in your entire time there was that one year you didn't go to a bowl game I think. I'd probably get traded yeah. So one and then you know of the of the stratosphere I guess the the you know. Is is there a danger a bit this year that you whoever it is willing jagr mark Alpert whoever comes after is gonna be constantly chasing some teen met. You know for any program in the country I don't care if your Florida Florida State Alabama may be unrealistic to to think that that is the expectation. Well there's gonna be ups and downs was every program it's just it in in the programs like you know Alabama let's say you're. I mean which you can't see Notre Dame anymore and you can't CSC is so I mean it it's hard. To look at programs say you're just gonna have a top ten or a national. Championship caliber team every year there's just sometimes you miss a recurring sometime gypsum devastating injuries. But. Unfortunately the trajectory of the organ program wasn't too right direction and and when you're in the national championship two years removed from that. It's hard to believe that at Oregon they're gonna fire coach. And you know I know I have to people about stepping work would be they've been a long time and you don't become dump coaches overnight but unfortunately sometimes. You don't make right decisions in recruiting you lose some of the key players. That you you may not have to people that come on in the program that show the same slot that would go before. This is a former Oregon coach Mike Bellotti was this year on the stand in a CSN. So as a coach. That it seems like in Oregon there's been the sort of sense of entitlement take over not with. All players but with some enough to really effect that the progress of the program how would you go about if you're Willie Taggart. Sort of eradicating that. Well I'd put him in a different building I'd make him earn their way in two would adapt to Dowling complex. I put him in the bowels lots and stadiums like that because. They don't deserve right now and that's the only way you have to understand I don't know about a entitlement I I did do you look at a little bit as we got better and better facilities. I talk to the players about ticket that wasn't about the uniforms or look. The equipment of absolutely needed when he gave it to guys on the field got to win the football even if there ever in the heart and the mind what they have to do. Keep that straight so you know I and I think. It's hard when you're there as part of it. To do it it's a little easier when you come in fresh from the outside. Need to say hey guys we didn't do very well actually we didn't play as good as we need to we want to stop as we needed to be. We have to develop we have earned some things and you know I had a chance to do you the little Virginia gave actually Virginia org gate to. And I talked to block comment at all when he got to Virginia they. Had a losing record losing to even keep everybody current New Jersey earned their way into their right to go into the locker room you know things like that and I think. I'm not saying that's necessary but I'm saying. It's one way to sort of make. People earn it and see who really want to do is going to work say. It doesn't matter what I want an article why was last year I gotta be a lot better this year I want to stream the. Did you see you said you dealt with some of this because you're you're there were amid knobs in the facilities were nice back in the nineties but. You know I remember being recruited their right around that time when some of those were just getting built and there was nothing like it on the West Coast I remember being recruited to Washington in UCLA and you know they're just weren't nice facilities in the pac twelve organ really stood alone. They were kind of ahead of the curve on that so just did you talk about that what. What did you have to go through in and was it significant to you you notice as you guys kind of got more than bells and whistles that more freely around at least West Coast cultural by the time. What impact that had on your team. Well yeah I can give you a quick overview accuses pretty CIR eight took over in 95 after the Rose Bowl we want to get Cotton Bowl back to back used to bowl games all night so what do you need to actually be indoor practice facility we built that a year later. We lost. Apple might step after the first yearbook coordinators left the West Bank wedge to six and that we won 67891011. Consecutive years. And we rebuilt stadium week. Edit the mug shots he's got an indoor facility Reid get that training through redo the locker room and built the academics that are eventually. And as we did all those things we kept winning and getting better better than we have a well. And I think people slot and and we'd look at it's that some of the kids we recruited. Came in what an attitude of entitlement that change just by putting on their Jersey was gonna make them a better player they weren't gonna have to do the work necessary in the off season or the weight room work. Or compete on the field. Like they might want to. And so we dealt with it that we don't look at an incremental. Measures throughout my entire time thereby. By 2008. What I left in the 2009 class that I signed. I thought we had. Cleared another hurdle because we were about ready to build it didn't do football facility. And I knew that was going to be another challenge but I thought we recruited great group of kids and we had a team. In net we started that streak together I think we went seven win jury when they're all member in. In 2000 and don't ten wins in 20057. Arrayed in the next year than nine and then ten in a chip like that ever maybe ten or eleven outnumber their first year. But you know you you go through those a little bit of cycles which you've got to nip it in the blood because it takes over in your lock girl. It takes over some of the people you recruit. He can be a poison and you know I don't know what that was the issue. With his team or not I really don't. I I just think that they were loose shorthanded on defense they've had. Three different coordinators in three years now whatever was four years and that gets. You know what is your view of the defense I mean is it as simple as a way to settle shorthanded on defense or why were they so bad defensively. Well they did it work they work very good and big ticket actually got outmanned and apparently got out coached and it just loves. Difficult and they had some injuries tonight I don't know. You know I don't I'm not aware enough of the personnel anymore so you specifically is they're good or bad in this area but. It was just difficult and that certainly be transitioned our title unique talked a school record for three year order before to try to they're really matter. Still got to find eleven guys to compliant. And and play well. And unfortunately sometimes they're used. Was an advantage and sometimes they used was a disadvantage and an and a problem but. Date they weren't very good and unfortunately no one of the worst defense in the nation. And it was a factor because but the year before they've outscored eight and this year they were looking younger on defense special optical line. And a quarterback. And they could not quirk. While most fans view that side of the ball is really the key so if your coach coming in to Eugene. Leg Willie Taggart how do you build. That side of the ball back up is it as simple as just hiring a great defensive coordinator like Taggart said today. Well you know I think it's but it's not just that it's gets recruiting. And it's finding some people are bad and may be I don't know in this case change in culture but. You know it may take a year or two I just saying that I don't know what you could recruit one year group to get enough guys to create the kind of competition. Every game practice sugar need to put a great Egypt on appeal but. You know it's I'd certainly start with step out. You know I think I heard Willie say talking about recruiting and staffing in two made eagle and and you you're. You know I can do one without yet you can't go recruit people who wanted to oh who's gonna coach you coach who's going to be to Decourt who's going to be live record coaches should be does show that. So he's got. His work cut out or in terms of meeting with. The current staff at Oregon meeting with seeing who's gonna follow him from South Florida who might take over some of the jobs there and then get those guys on the road now just. Here's force of will his personality is certainly gonna help he's got a reputation as a recruiter. It's still not eight national. A national brand name. So he's gonna have to go. You know because street hit the pavement which he well sounds like he wants to work and excited about it and I think that I think it's a good hire. The other when I wanted to ask you about is unique. You guys were always pretty innovative and in ahead of the curve you mentioned you know. You build the indoor practice facility and an all different things you guys were ahead of the curve on that when you offensively you guys read defensively some stuff nick was doing. You guys were ahead of the curve where start with scrutiny in and then obviously chipped in and that fast paced offense but. You look around the conference now everyone has sixty million dollar facilities everyone's running tempo everyone's running spread everyone's doing four or five different uniforms. And with the rise of washing USC is just harder than ever now to stand out when it comes to recruiting or just been successful because everyone else's privacy caught up but. Just feel like maybe that the rest of the field is in it's it's even got a little bit as far as the innovation goes. Yeah I would say certainly would Washington and USC seemingly on the comeback trail and watched it is there because there are playoff. And SC is navy right now the hottest team in the conference and one of the best teams. In the pac twelve but it it is difficult. But you know Oregon I think has some things with its relationship with Nike and shall let some things that. Can't be matched too many places to. The problem that such a beast for it is right we work we were innovated we were smarter not to stay ahead of the curve to change offenses to. Adapted and adjusted and even changed these pitches. And then to create some excitement with uniforms and facilities that we could capitalize on his week. Got a bowl games only one bowl games that we won games are won championships and so. Those things were really important you can't have one. If you don't back it up on the other end. And now everybody we well do we are at an arms wee bit of the world in March it just depends what would you consider the armed. You don't put all its its facilities. In its recruiting in its staff. And having you know a lot of steps to console collapse thirty paid coaches on staff I mean we've kept here that was it total. And so we changed that. And it's it's change you were you have consultants and they are helping. Everybody you've got cut coaches who were full time coaches and our going making a lot of BP consulted. And so it there's an arms race now that you don't see is much from facilities standpoint but it's a personnel. It's an intelligence war. And a lot of lot of play a lot of programs out there have a lot more people out snapped and you don't. Yeah how close were were you ever to coming back to the sideline. It close a couple times three or four times I mean I got offered jobs every year. After lest you eat each probably for the first five or six years and jobs pac twelve jobless DC jobs. At. Big Ten jobs but I you know I I walked away because I was ready I had to be issues. I had family issues I had some things that I needed to care about there is really liked our football clubs and I you know people actually do in this coaching got a yeah every day every single beggars bad day if you're coached. There's got data goes by you'll think about what you think about what you would do this situation I think about how to recruit how to call better play. But it is these 24/7 365 job and even more than that. In which those social media world now. It just you know I I make which again I really meant I might go to ice cooler Jay Sears division three team in just six. And become honor and welcome in coach with tiger's record backseat to what you want our help ya little bit more we'll go from there. Now but that ESPN gigs pretty good gig ranking GM's. A lot easier all right. If you don't a good thing about ESP NS football is I get to talk about football. I don't lose many games I don't yeah I I don't have to make a cult mob after. Their son got injured or this and got kicked out fatigue because he's screwed up so yeah I hit it a lot better lie it's a lot easier usual you don't win many games excellent crop you don't like. You missed it comes it's easier to yet to give that competition sort of a bug out on the golf course Shrek. Good tennis court golf tennis where can I got to ball dog today so good night's alright well thank you so much for taking back. And great Michael I. From earlier in our bread gets it back and now are way over yet we're just dispute Jovi is good now as well the good stuff and Irian Justine. I text 55305 remaining your feet clips of Willie Taggart there wouldn't have been the club coming up next on the thing. There's a museum there in the mornings yeah. Zany morning show that they handling yet to be in order to workers. He had OK let's listen to some Willie tag William played many of these just when he needed taste of what he sounded like today we had a whole press from a slant on the samba. A few clips here. We're going to hear Jason. Buckle up. Duck fan you'll go buckle up I think that's the people are getting it taking two clips out of this one of the buckle up and the other one is do something you know lets you do some first reported this earlier now. We have built. Successful program at a complacent but stand alone three tenets. Make no excuses. Blame no one. Eat broccoli do so. Spinach we will continue to live about a belief that we return this football program to the law we status that it deserved tonight here's buckle up rate this summer ready. Ball the law yeah. He's going to be fine we don't get out there room over I guess they recruit the best of the best I mean you should hear the universal organ we don't have to settle for anything. And a look at our football program and and the university organisms the national national brand and we're all legal. Over the entire country. To find the best of the best we only get 25 each year that's the limit fan that you. I'm pretty sure that we five really good football players out and then we can finally come here that it will want to do it. Accomplish what we want to get accomplished here you know but before we go out. Around the country roof take care state or first we'll put it right here to keep our best football players in state we should not let them leave here we can't. So we will not. Wear me out shopping love and just hold hostage here but we're not done that in my view it's oh. OK so here's here's what has the input of fans curious or put a perfect right he has put it around here and put it around you're gonna get you gotta put in front of Gainer she's still stick to stick it may Gary Anderson if hearing is on the staff some BS about what he says gonna do with current staff. But little talking to the current staff first and foremost I'd really like to sit down and talk those guys and see it they're good fit for what we're trying to. Do you think he's really important that we get the right fit in though and that's so important when things aren't staff and for me personally I want I want to make sure that. We are staff that's gonna that's gonna capture the hearts and minds of our football players on this. That's part of most important thing for me they got to be great mentors to our guest help them. Accomplish all the things anyone accomplished as a young men. And then here's one more there's a reason they can't win the title deed. Now I'm excited. Very exciting to have opportunities to be here. At the university or. A place where I fulfill and we can win a national championship here in the very important to me. In making that move and there's no reason for us not to. Well when you play into chambers should gains on ten years and mean. That's not a go back into the bloody you were the Dennis Dixon major way probably from playing for one you should've played for one the Fiesta Bowl year we Joey so they can win my you you can win one I would just hope that the expectations. Are realistic in that that. Can't be the standard this is a national program but it's not. I don't think it's a program where you should expect your coach to win eleven games in the in the Kosovo playoff everyone not just did. Two dead two did we one more he played in one. Yeah well he might seem kind of the second one theater expect their efforts it's no credit for their right. Now as Mario and bat. Chip in Mariana okay one mark here are his initial priorities. Recruit recruit recruit in recruiting and I started at about about a half hour ago. And recruit not current players which is the most important thing improve our guys is here now and you don't rudin and meet are increased at a committed to us. You know and and then doing that time also can put together a staff. Well can't. That's Willie Taggart. Well all I can say about Willie tag it is no one knows no one he comes highly recommended. You know he's got a good reputation out there he builds to a lesser schools. To like each hinted that he both minutes successful programs but he had successful seasons. With them that this is a totally different. Ball game Willie Taggart may be the greatest thing since sliced bread and we may be ready for new coach in three to four years. It's just it's it's an unknown higher go to the club Mick Jagger has another kid public number 77. That seems like an awful lot to an estimate. 604 on the ban.
